Barbour Beacon is the latest sub-brand of Barbour. Bringing a fresh range of premium t-shirts and knitwear, and of course iconic wax and waterproof jackets. The modern re-invention of years of tried and tested tailoring.
Designed to deliver the best quality outdoor clothing, the Barbour Beacon brand combines the rich heritage of its parent label with youthful designs. Expect to see the highest quality waterproof and warm-wearing jackets, cut in a slim fit and finished with exciting colours like royal blue and orange. Barbour Beacon is for the modern and the fashion savvy.
The history of the Beacon goes back much further, though. Built in 1882, the Beacon (also known as Herd Groyne) is a real north east landmark. A lighthouse that stands proudly in the mouth of the River Tyne as a welcoming symbol to sailors entering from the North Sea.
John Barbour was inspired by the Beacon Lighthouse. So much so, that he used it as his brand’s logo when he set up his company in South Shields in 1894. To him, the Beacon’s ability to stand steady in the face of foul weather perfectly represented what he wanted his jackets to do.
In recent years, Barbour has re-surfaced on the forefront of pop culture, with commander jackets and sports jackets becoming the outerwear of choice for big-name stars. From the main stage of Glastonbury with the likes of Alex Turner and Lily Allen to the silver screen with Daniel Craig’s James Bond in Skyfall. From its humble beginnings on the shores of South Tyneside to a globally-recognised, award-winning international brand. The Barbour jacket is a wardrobe staple, and now the Barbour Beacon sports jacket is a modern must-have.
You can shop a full range of both Barbour and Barbour Beacon at EQVVS, from waxed cotton jackets to everyday t-shirts.
