For many of us, the current lockdown is an excuse to chill and do nothing. However, there will still be a fair few fitness fanatics out there that will be missing their beloved sessions at the gym. While we have the option to go for a run, for some that may not be a big enough dose of exercise compared to what we’re used to. So, what can you do? Thankfully, the world of fitness apps and influencers has been around for a while, and in recent weeks, undoubtedly they’ve gained significant popularity. So, if you’re missing your regular trips to the gym, fear not, as we’ve rounded up our picks of the best fitness apps and channels to keep you active at home. Who knows? Men’s Health: The World’s Fittest App
A collaboration by Men’s Health magazine and British athlete Ross Edgley, The World’s Fittest App is designed to help you transform your body and smash your fitness goals. Fans of the popular magazine will love the Men’s Fitness YouTube channel which uploads exclusive content every week. There’s workouts for all body parts designed to help you with your fitness goals, whether that’s to build muscle or burn fat. You’ll find a range of home workouts, as well as celebrity workouts, fitness challenges, recipes and more.
One of the top fitness apps for iPhone and Android, Sworkit is designed to help you reach your fitness goals, all in the comfort of your own home. Whether your training for weight loss, toning or endurance, this convenient app has plenty of variety when it comes to your home workout, with over 400 to choose from. If you’re not sure where to start, simply enter a little info on your current fitness levels and what you want to achieve and you’ll be given a 6 week training plan, tailored just for you.

Australia based YouTuber Fraser Wilson has over 700k subscribers, and his workouts are designed to get you feeling positive. His channel has a huge range of at-home and equipment free routines along with additional content such as recipes and tips to help you make the most of your workouts. Plus, there’s a whole selection of shorter workouts too, which are perfect for adding into your routine when things go back to normal - so there’s no excuse!
Described as the ‘Number 1 Audio Fitness App’, Aaptiv allows you to create your perfect workout in a few simple steps. Simply enter your fitness goals, choose your workout based on duration, trainers or music, pop in your headphones and you’re good to know. There’s thousands of workouts that can be done from home, outdoors, or even at the gym when things go back to normal. There’s structured programmes to help you reach your goals, plus new classes added weekly, and they’re all guided by expert trainers. What more could you want.

With over 6 million subscribers on YouTube, FitnessBlender houses hundreds of free workout videos. Created by husband and wife team Daniel and Kelli, you’ll find everything from HIIT workouts to strength building. You can choose from their huge selection of free videos, or if you want further support you can purchase in-depth fitness plans from their website.
Home Workout - No Equipment
This one pretty much does what it says on the tin. This incredibly popular app has been given five star reviews and was awarded a place in the lineup of Google Play’s “Best of 2018.” There’s daily routines for all muscle groups, all of which are equipment free and can be done in your own home. You’ll find warm up and stretching routines to ensure that you’re exercising properly, and there’s even the option to track your progress and set workout reminders.

The Lean Machines
UK based personal trainers John and Leon have over 400 thousand subscribers on YouTube and are on a mission to get people feeling fit and healthy while having fun at the same time. Their channel has a number of different workouts that can easily be done at home, along with additional content such as workout tips, vlogs, and healthy recipes. Perfect if you’re in need of a little motivation!
Six Pack in 30 Days
Maybe you'll want to make use of this extra time in lockdown by setting yourself a little extra challenge. For those who want to really up their abs game, Six Pack in 30 Days is a great option to start with. Similar to the Home Workout app, this 30 day plan is designed to help you burn belly fat and sculpt a super set of abs with just a few minutes a day. There’s different levels, so you can still have a go if you’re a beginner, and there’s animations and video guides too so you can ensure you’re carrying out the moves effectively.

You’ll probably be aware of his recent PE sessions aimed at keeping the nation’s kids active during the lockdown, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg, as his channel houses hundreds of effective workouts for all levels. Whether you want to make use of any equipment you have at home, or just workout using your body weight, there’s something for everyone!
