New Balance | Brand in Focus

New Balance Asset

Truly standing the test of time, New Balance have been on the map cheffing up heritage styles in the footwear sphere since 1906, with a little history in running trabs for the sporty folk among us.

Now a leading lifestyle footwear brand, they're all anyone can talk about. So in the interest of cutting the waffle, have a gander at our first drop including models such as the 2002R and 9060.

Plus, a little look at the second iteration of their coveted ‘Refined Future’ Protection Pack collection by designer Wue Yu.

And, because a New Balance drop has us all feeling extra excitable and giddy in the office, we're running a competition to bag a pair of your choosing. Scroll down to get the deets of that one.

Designer Yue Wu plays with the theme coined as ‘Refined Future’, with the first iteration of the 2002R model, followed by the August 2023 launch of the 1906D silhouette.

The goal?

Giving a timeless energy to the sneakers that blends seamlessly with the brand’s heritage on the streets of Boston, MA.

The concept looks at the way people are wearing their New Balance out and about.

Trabs that had been around the block a few times (literally) and have held on for so long they’re showing signs of comfortable wear and tear. And yet those shoes are often the comfiest, most well-loved in our collection.

‘Refined Future’ (since coined the ‘Protection Pack’ by other retailers) shows us just how much longevity there is in a pair of New Balance, being of such crackin’ quality that they can last a lifetime.

So for you sneakerheads that are mad on crep protect and anti-crease-ability, these one’s might have you in a tizzy. As part of the design concept, Yue Wu has set in motion a blueprint for the collection; to pre-distress them, with cut-outs and mesh layering techniques added to the comfiest of sneaker silhouettes in the New Balance line-up.

So get ‘em on, and get out and about in them.

The New Balance Collection at EQVVS HQ

The drop doesn't just stop there. In the interest of making sure that everyone gets a kick out of our New Balance launch, here's a round up of the other styles we've got in the bag, including the 550's, 2002R, 9060's and 610's.

New Balance | 550

First launched at the back end of the 1980's, the 550's took off as a key style in the 90's, with a bit of a basketball and a streetwear crossover flavour. As seen on some pretty top draw celebs in recent years, these ones have been branded the shoe of the year.

New Balance | 2002R

These ones are rooted in performance, with a pretty forward-thinking silhouette. The 2002R’s have a classic, sleek design with a bounty of technical, performance related constructions that make them real comfortable as well as visually top drawer.

New Balance | 9060

A reinterpreted, re-expressed version of its predecessors across the 99X range. These ones have some pretty familiar elements with a quirky sensibility and some inspo from the futuristic tech aesthetic of recent years. With an exaggerated emphasis on some comfy cushioning, these ones feel a bit like walking on a cloud.

New Balance | 610

For a bit of versatility and flavour, the New Balance 610 have a futuristic feel that goes hand in hand with the gorpcore aesthetic. These are yet another silhouette rooted in performance, so whatever you’re up against, terrain or not, these might be the perfect shoe.
