How to Measure 'Chest' and 'Pit to Pit':
The obvious step to finding the right size when you're shopping online would be knowing the size of your top half.
So, grab a tape measure (a soft one, not the metal one in your tool kit) and you want to measure around the fullest part of your chest. You can relax for this one, there's no point puffing your chest to get max. pectoral definition, because then it's not going to fit on an exhale.
The numbers? Store in your notes app on your phone for reference later.
We've taken the time to measure pit to pit on as many of our garments as we can physically squeeze into an average working day.
The pit to pit is exactly what you think, it's left armpit to right armpit. Then with the help of your GCSE Maths from years gone by, double the pit to pit... and you've got the chest size of the garment.
An example:
If you've got a chest size of 41/42 and the garments pit to pit is doubling up at 46, then it's fair to assume there will be some leeway on the fabric. In the clothing world, we call it a 'relaxed fit' or 'oversized' or 'boxy loose' among many other synonyms of the word baggy.
And vice versa for 'slim' fits. The closer the garment pit to pit measurement to your pit to pit, the slimmer it will fit through the body.
What it means:
Regular Fit:
Truly what it says on the tin, a regular fit in the top department will fit with a classic, straight cut from the pit down to the hem. Regular fits comfortably, without clinging to your torso.
Slim Fit:
Slim fit are designed to fit a lot closer to the body and upper arms and are often aligned with a 'muscle fit' style tee. Most of ours are cotton/polyester blends though, so not strictly gym gear.
Relaxed Fit:
Looser through the torso, a relaxed fit fits with a bit of extra fabric that offers a larger silhouette.
Some helpful tips:
Round your chest size up if your in-between sizes.
Check the intended fit details of the T-Shirt, Polo Shirt, Sweatshirt or Jumper you're looking at, things like dropped shoulders, boxy cropped fits, and high necklines alter the way the garment fits.
The Bottom Half: Shorts, Jeans, Pants and Cargos
Fit Guide: Jeans, Joggers, Cargos, Pants, Shorts.
Keeping it generic, bottoms will fit as followed:
Size |
Waist (cm) |
Waist (in) |
S |
76-81 | 30-32 |
M |
81-86 | 32-34 |
L |
86-91 | 34-36 |
XL |
91-97 | 36-38 |
XXL |
97-102 | 38-40 |
We know that not everything fits exactly as you'd expect, because that makes online shopping too easy. So, take care to read the product descriptions for extra info to inform your purchase.
How to Find out your Waist and Leg measurements:
The obvious step to finding the right size when you're shopping online would be knowing the size of your waist and inseam (leg).
So, grab a tape measure (a soft one, not the metal one in your tool kit) and you want to measure around your waist, where your hip bones are, and your inseam, with the top of the measuring tape tightly between your legs (like where a bike saddle would sit) and measure down to your ankle.
Translating the numbers?
| Inseam (in) | Leg Length |
| 30 | S (Short) |
| 32 | R (Regular) |
| 34 | L (Long) |
We've taken the time to measure the waist on as many of our garments as we can physically squeeze into an average working day.
Some helpful tips:
Round your waist size up if you're in between sizes.
Check the intended fit details of your pants, some are designed to fit lower at the waist, have a dropped crotch, or are wider through the thigh which makes them feel bigger.
