Stone Island AW26 is here | Explore the new season

This seasons Stone Island collection really leans into material obsession, with statement dyeing techniques and an approach to fabrics that borders on scientific. With a colour palette conceived to be worn together, this collection pulls on seasonal shades inspired by natural landscapes. As always, a dichotomy is created with the natural and the man made, and Stone Island do it seamlessly. Materials are elevated, and the exploration of them is all about applying technical treatments to natural fabrications, like wool and leather. 

All of this consolidates exactly what Stone Island is about; forward-thinking designs, progressive material innovation, and boundary pushing tech, running alongside the legacy and history created by Osti’s research matrix; it’s the past and future combined. What Stone Island is really asking ‘what can this material actually do?’.

With a collection including statement Stone Island Jackets & Coats, as well as Sweats & Hoodies, and Jumpers & Knitwear, each thread gets the Stone Island treatment. 

1982. 

A big year for Sci-fi in the cinema, landmark music moments included the release of the compact disc, and Michael Jackson's 'Thriller', and round our ends in the UK, Prince William was born. 

But, in the Italian province of Ravarino, Massino Osti was creating ‘Tela Stella’, a fabric inspired by military truck tarpaulins. A cotton canvas material coated in resin, dyed on either side, and washed using pumice stones to soften it for wear. Then came the question, what do we do with it now?

He’d already created C.P. Company in 1971, with seven jackets intended for the goggle-based brand, and from these seven jackets, Stone Island was born. 

What does 'Garment Dyed' even mean? We see it in the description of Jackets, Overshirts, and Sweats & Hoodies alike across the Stone Island series, but the process is pretty spectacular. 

In short, garment dyeing is the process of dyeing the garment at the end of it's construction. The pieces are crafted entirely from raw, uncoloured fabrics, and are then dyed as the last step of the process. The result? An entirely unique piece every time. It's completely adaptive and the dyes are specifically selected to account for the unique makeup of each garment. It yields pieces that have a worn in feel, creates subtle and natural fading and colour variation around the seams and edges, and different fabric makeups.
