While staying in has become the norm for most of us over these last few weeks, cabin fever is starting to set in and for some of us, we may be gagging to start planning our next holiday - if we even get one this year. While the possibility of a summer holiday is looking highly unlikely for most of us this year, that doesn’t stop us dreaming about where we can head off to when the restrictions finally get lifted. Whether this year has meant the cancellation of an epic holiday with your mates, or perhaps even yours or a friends’ stag do, hopefully it won’t be too long before we’re all allowed to pack our bags and set off again. But where to go? On the plus side, we’ve got a fair bit of time to think that part of things through, but to get you started, we’ve put together our top ten destinations to go on your travel bucket list when all this is over.

Magaluf

magaluf

We had to start with a classic of course. One of the most popular destinations for a lads holiday, Magluf is one place every lad needs to visit at least once. With a massive variety of clubs and bars, amazing beaches and a whole load of activities perfect for a lads’ holiday, including watersports, quad biking and boat parties, there’s plenty to do, and things will surely get messy, especially if it’s the first post-lockdown holiday.

Ibiza

ibiza

If it’s clubbing you’re after though, you can’t go wrong with Ibiza for the ultimate party destination, with world class clubs and bars that attract visitors from all over the world. However, it hasn’t been coined ‘the playground of the rich and famous’ for nothing - a trip here is likely to be a rather pricey one, with hefty club entry prices and single drinks costing anything between 10 and 25 euros! One to bear in mind if you’re looking for a booze-heavy trip.

Prague

prague

One destination that regularly tops the list for stag dos and lads’ weekends is Prague. With the cost of a pint being some of the cheapest around, and plenty of choice when it comes to nightlife, it’s a great option if the budget is a little tight. There’s loads to do in the daytime too, with impressive sights to catch and activities such as AK-47 shooting, go karting, and plenty more.

Cancun

cancun

Often a popular choice for American party-lovers heading off on their spring break, Cancun is one of the best places to live it up. There’s beautiful weather, exciting booze cruises, American style pool parties and even a few Mayan cities to explore while you walk off that hangover. The only downside? It might set you back twice the price of a European destination, but we think it’s worth it.

Budapest

budapest

In addition to its reputation for being super affordable, Budapest has a reputation for being one of the most popular choices when it comes to stag do destinations. Not only do pints come in at great prices (seriously, just under a quid in some cases), but you can also line your stomach with delicious food that’s cheap and cheerful too. Packed with amazing sights, there’s also plenty of activities out there to enjoy too, including shooting activities, boat trips and even beer bikes!

Las Vegas

las-vegas

While it’s certainly not easy to pull this one off on a budget, a trip to Sin City itself is probably high up on most of our bucket lists, and if funds allow it should definitely be one to consider. Trying your luck in the world famous casinos, taking in the sights and gorging on incredible food are just a handful of things you can get up to in this amazing city, but you can also take on amazing activities including a helicopter ride of the Grand Canyon, extreme skywire, indoor skydiving and tearing through the desert on dune buggies.

Barcelona

barcelona

If you love the city vibes, Barcelona has it all - great weather, amazing beaches and bustling nightlife. While slightly more expensive than other cities in Spain, there’s still loads to enjoy with the hottest nightlife being located in the Gothic Area and El Born, packed with night spots and bars to suit all tastes. Plus, a tour of the Camp Nou football stadium is a must for any sports mad lads if you’re looking for something to do during the day.

Amsterdam

amsterdam

Well known for its Red Light District, Amsterdam is often a popular choice when it comes to stag dos and lads holidays, but there’s plenty more to enjoy about this fine city too. There’s a whole array of nightclubs and bars for you to party the night away, and there’s even the option to take in some of the finest sights the city has to offer on a canal boat bar crawl!

Tenerife

tenerife

A popular destination all year round, Tenerife is known for its guaranteed good weather and for being a more affordable option over places such as Ibiza and Marbella. With food and drinks at some pretty reasonable prices, it’s a great option for a lads holiday, and there’s plenty of activities to take part in during the day while you recover from the night before.

Berlin

berlin

Finally, we come to one of Europe’s most visited cities, Berlin. The German capital is packed with culture and history to explore as well as some unforgettable nightlife, particularly if you’re a techno music lover. As well as incredible night clubs and bars, you can also enjoy a whole array of daytime activities to suit all tastes, including microbrewery tours, indoor go karting and zorb football.

While we’ve probably got a bit longer to go before we can pack our bags and jump on a plane for our next holiday, there’s nothing wrong with doing your research into the best destinations (and perhaps even start saving a bit too…). If the lockdown has taught us anything, it’s how much we’re missing our mates and those wild nights out, so heading off on a trip away when this is all over is the perfect way to celebrate! Just don’t let things get too messy...
